Cherry Creek in Port Alberni, BC, has now possession of its new 2025 Diesel powered Fort Garry Fire Truck.

“It has a short wheelbase of 204 inches, hence, can turn around easier on off roads so we can fight more wildfires and help pay for the truck,” eight-year veteran Cherry Creek fire chief said. “Our other firetruck is almost 30 years old so it is beyond its lifespan and this new truck should last for 30 years,” Lucas Banton firechief noted and with it being able to help with wildfires, we hope to pay the $630,000 off sooner than later. “We are pretty comfortable with the pump panel as it is similar to our older truck, but we need some training and orientation with the new truck and to plan out our hoses,” Banton said. A new addition that will fit well in the new firehall the Cherry Creek Fire Department is presently working on. Plans for the retired fire truck are still being discussed.
