Hello Cowichan Malahat Langford. I am Martin Barker and I am planning on being your Conservative candidate in the riding for the next Federal election.
I have been personally affected by the growing addicted homeless in our communities. I sold my house and moved when vandalism, theft became common in my neighbourhood. Needles in my hedge, car windows smashed, tires slashed, open drug use on the roadway in front of my house. I know many people now afraid to go places or leave their homes.
NDP-Liberal ‘science’ is not working. Naloxone use is up, Overdose deaths are up, crime is up. Many of our neighbourhoods are transforming into wastelands.
I am not unsympathetic to the plight of our less fortunate. Addiction is a heavy affliction to bear. I’ve seen it first hand having spent 7 years volunteering my services to the Warmland shelter in Duncan. There are tragic stories in the addicted community. Stories of abuse, mental health, unfortunate circumstances. This population deserves our empathy and support.
But we must also protect our citizens, we need to pursue policies that help these poor souls but also protect our people, our businesses, our places of leisure.
What is certain is the current plan of expanding the availability of free drugs and injection centres, open door criminal systems, and acceptance of public drug use are not helping addicts or making our communities safer. Politicians like Alistair MacGregor are championing these failing policies.
If you think there is a better way to help these people while keeping citizens and businesses safe. Vote for me as your next Conservative Candidate.
I cannot represent this community without your support at the nomination meeting. I want to be the common sense representative of our riding. You can support me by buying a conservative membership and attending the nomination meeting (date unknown), follow me on my social media, donating to our local Conservative EDA (so we can afford a good election fight next year) and to me if you support my nomination.
Let me fight for you in Ottawa, we know the NDP hasn’t and we know the Liberals won’t. Support me as your voice of reason in Ottawa. I will fight for our riding.
Martin Barker
